Will God call Perry to run?
To the editor:
The Star should be congratulated for its reporting of the judicial activism of the Texas Supreme Court by supposedly conservative Republican justices in order to help Gov. Perry hide his travel expenses from public scrutiny.
As we all wait with baited breath to see if God calls the governor to run for president, Perry might remember how the Lord apparently changed His mind after first calling televangelist Pat Robertson (according to Robertson) to run against President George H.W. Bush in the 1996 Republican primary.
While Robertson never revealed exactly what God had against the elder Bush, He soon abandoned the Reverend and left him looking like a fool. Who said the Lord doesn’t have a sense of humor?
Perhaps Mormon Mitt Romney is unacceptable to flat-Earth Christians like Perry, but I’ll wager God has the last laugh once again.
