Harlingen falls to Alexandria, 4-3

HARLINGEN - The Alexandria Aces won a second straight well-pitched game against the Harlingen WhiteWings on Sunday at Harlingen Field, 4-3.
The Aces (36-23) got on the board against Todd Lutz in the third. Bryan Sabatella led off with an infield single. One out later Selwyn Langaigne singled and Palmer Karr Jr. followed by blasting his 13th home run of the season over the clubhouse down the left field line to make it 3-0 Aces.
The WhiteWings (17-39) responded against Chad Linder in the bottom of the inning. Trey Hendricks led off with a single, moved to second on a ground out and to third on a fly out. Kevin Griffin followed with an RBI-single to make it 3-1.
The Wings then tied it in the fourth. David Cardona led off with a double. One out later, Joel Gonzalez belted his second homer of the season to make it 3-3.
The contest remained knotted until the Aces grabbed the lead late.
With one out in the eighth, Toro Treviño (0-4) struck out Bryan Sabatella, but he reached on a passed ball. He stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a two-out single by Langaigne to make it 4-3 Aces.
Angel Guzman (2-3) struck out two in a perfect seventh for the win.
Wayne Hedden pitched a scoreless ninth for his ninth save.
The WhiteWings get the next three days off thanks to the all-star break, but return to action on Thursday in Edinburg at 7:05 p.m. It will be the WhiteWings' last trip to Edinburg Stadium this season.
The probable starters are right-hander Alex Gett (2-6) for the WhiteWings and right-hander Aaron Guerra (5-1) for the Coyotes.
