Ready for another bowl game?
Comments 0 | Recommend 0DALLAS — Dallas civic leaders have announced that they're organizing a new bowl game to replace the Cotton Bowl in the city's Fair Park stadium.
They say the Dallas Football Classic is planned for New Year's Day 2011.
Organizers say they'll use a rotation of also-rans from three collegiate football conferences to come up with their lineups. They anticipate the first game will pit the seventh-ranked team from the Big 12 Conference against the sixth-ranked team from the Big Ten, should those teams be excluded from Bowl Championship Season consideration.
Teams from Conference USA will also be considered for future games.
The plan awaits NCAA licensing at the annual postseason bowl meetings next April. The plan would run through the 2013 regular season.
