Harlingen drops eighth straight

HARLINGEN - The Edinburg Coyotes completed the four-game sweep of the Harlingen WhiteWings with a 4-2 victory Sunday at Harlingen Field.
The WhiteWings (17-43) have now lost eight straight while the Coyotes are winners of four in a row.
The Coyotes (28-33) got on the board against Todd Lutz (2-4) in the second. Argelis Nuñez led off with an infield single and Eric Gonzalez followed with a two-run home run. One out later, Mayobanex Santana reached on an error and Amado German singled. One out after that, Angelo Fermin hit an RBI-single to make it 3-0 Coyotes.
Trey Hendricks got one back for Harlingen in the bottom of the inning with his first home run as a Wing, a solo-shot against Miguel Martinez (5-3).
But in the fourth Edinburg got that run right back as Santana hit a two-out triple and scored on an infield single by German to make it 4-1 Coyotes.
That would be it against Lutz, who pitched eight innings, scattering nine hits, one walk and four strikeouts.
From the fifth inning through the eighth, Lutz faced the minimum 12 batters, issuing just a walk but getting a double play to erase that.
The Wings tried to rally. In the sixth, Joel Gonzalez hit a one-out single and Hendricks followed with a double to make it 4-2.
But that was as close as the Wings would get as Luke Prihoda pitched a scoreless ninth for his fourth save.
The WhiteWings welcome the Amarillo Dillas to Harlingen Field for the final time this season tonight at 7:05. Left-hander Jorge Lugo (3-3) will face right-hander Taylor Allen (4-6).
