Wings continue to struggle
Comments 0 | Recommend 0EDINBURG - Former-WhiteWing Argelis Nuñez was involved in the scoring of all of the Edinburg Coyotes' runs in a 3-1 win over the Har-lingen WhiteWings Friday at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
In the fourth, the Coyotes (26-33) got to Bryan Herrera (0-1) for the first time. Nunez led off with a single, stole second, and scored on an RBI-single by Mayobanex Santana to tie the game 1-1.
In the fifth, Alex Entrekin led off with a walk. One out later, Robert Matlock and Daryl Jones walked to load the bases. Nunez hit a two-run single to make it 3-1 Coyotes.
That would be it for Herrera, who allowed five hits and five walks while hitting one. He struck out four.
The WhiteWings (17-41) got on the board against Aaron Guerra (7-1) in the third. Anthony Slagle led off by getting hit by a pitch. After a sacrifice bunt, Kevin Griffin was hit and Amadeo Zazueta singled to load the bases. Slagle scored on a wild pitch to make it 1-0.
That was it against Guerra, who scattered four hits, one walk and two hit batsmen while striking out seven.
Luke Prihoda pitched a scoreless ninth for his third save.
The WhiteWings and Coyotes play game three of this four-game series tonight at 7:05. Right-hander Brock Nehls (0-0) will make his WhiteWings debut against left-hander Carlos Jan (1-1).
