DONNA — A naked man suspected of causing a three-vehicle crash was apprehended yesterday and taken to the hospital along with four people who were in the other cars, according Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Sgt. Juan Hernandez.
The crash happened about 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Val Verde and Sioux Roads. None of the injuries were life threatening and troopers continued to investigate the crash yesterday afternoon.
Hernandez said a 31-year-old man from Edinburg was driving a Ford Taurus northbound on Val Verde Road when he veered into the southbound lane and collided with two vehicles traveling southbound.
After the crash, the man driving the Taurus fled the scene on foot northbound on Val Verde and was detained shortly after by Donna ISD police and a DPS trooper, but he was not wearing clothes, Hernandez said.
It had not been determined if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, and no charges had been filed against the unidentified man yesterday afternoon. Hernandez said he is facing felony charges of accident involving injury.
