Justin & Justice: Top Rio Hondo students get into physical therapy

RIO HONDO — Justin and Justice.

The Villarreal twins, 17, share more than a name. They’ll be seniors at Rio Hondo High School this fall, they’re in the National Honor Society and they’re in the top 10 of their class.

Oh, and one more thing. They’re studying to become physical therapists.

What? I thought you said they’re in high school?

They are. But they aren’t wasting any time moving on to the next leg of their journey. They’re already performing observations at Back to Action Physical Therapy with Steve Mineker. Observations are a requirement for entrance into college physical therapy programs.

They’ve been on this journey for a long time. Justin remembers clearly that day in middle school when he went on a school trip to a retirement home.

“I saw this lady, she had some limited mobility, and she just sat there not moving,” said Justin. He remembers wanting to relieve the suffering of people in that woman’s situation.
