SAN BENITO — In keeping up with other cities, San Benito has begun livestreaming city meetings.
This past week, city officials kicked off the very first of many meetings to be recorded and made viewable on the city’s website.
The new endeavor is part of the city’s initiative to increase public participation in government affairs.
In case you miss the livestreaming on the night of the meeting, they will be recorded.
Those recordings can be viewed on a computer as well as any mobile device capable of streaming video playback.
Elected officials are excited about the implementation of the new feature.
“This is another step toward providing greater transparency to our citizenry, and to allow everyone the opportunity to see how city government is conducted,” Mayor Celeste Sanchez said.
