SAN BENITO — Police have arrested a man after they say he pointed his gun at a federal agent.
Police were called on Monday at 3:32 p.m. to the south bound Frontage Road and Oscar Williams in reference to Federal Agents needing assistance.
The patrol officer arrived and made contact with a Customs and Border Protection Agent who had a man and woman in custody.
He told the officer the driver identified as Travis Reese Lopez, 24, pointed a black pistol at him as he was traveling on the expressway.
Police said Lopez’s vehicle took the Oscar Williams exit ramp and stopped at the red light.
The CBP agent got out of his vehicle and attempted to pull Lopez and the passenger out of the vehicle at gunpoint.
Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were in a separate vehicle at the red light and assisted the agent in the apprehension.
The pistol described by the CBP Agent was located in the woman’s purse.
San Benito police took custody of Lopez and the woman and transported them to the city police station for questioning. The female provided police with a statement and was released.
Lopez was charged with a class A misdemeanor for deadly conduct, with bond set at $10,000.
