DPS: Harlingen motorcyclist killed in racing crash

SEBASTIAN — Charges are pending in the case of a 20-year-old Harlingen man killed while racing another motorcyclist.

Authorities are investigating the death of Dylan James Morales, killed just east of Sebastian at 11 p.m. Sunday.

Morales was racing a 2007 Colt motorcycle against a man riding a 2007 Hondo motorcycle when the two motorcycles crashed on FM 1018 just east of FM 507, said Sgt. Maria Montalvo, a spokeswoman with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Morales, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from his motorcycle, Montalvo said.

The other motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet according to DPS, remains in critical condition at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen. His name has not been release.
