A Celebration of Smiles: Charity event to help children with lip/cleft palate surgery

HARLINGEN — A “Celebration of Smiles” charity event will allow Valley residents to have family portraits or individual photos made while at the same time helping a child with a cleft lip/cleft palate condition to receive a surgery he or she needs to correct the condition.

The event kicked off yesterday at Harlingen Medical Center and continues this week.

Appointments are being taken for photos of those who would like to make a donation of $100 or more toward enabling a child to receive the cleft lip surgery.

Appointment times are available on Tuesday and Wednesday, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.; in Harlingen Medical Center’s Medical Office Building located at 5505 S. Expressway 77 in Harlingen (in the building closest to the Expressway, outside the hospital, on the first floor, in the conference room behind the elevators).

To make an appointment, call Edith Saldana at (956) 543-3993 or e-mail Marian Bliss Blake at ContactGiftingSmiles@gmail.com. Walk-ins are also welcome at the fundraiser.
