San Benito High School cheerleaders earn awards at cheer camp

San Benito High School cheerleaders attended the Universal Cheerleaders Association Camp at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg and did an outstanding job. The cheerleaders earned three gold superiors ribbons for sideline, cheer, and extreme routines. On game day, they walked away as “extreme routine champions” and “overall game day champions.” Members of the award-winning squad are: kneeling, from left: Captain – Leann Ramirez and Co-Captain – Jovannah Ortiz; middle row, Ashley Cardenas, Mikayla Garcia, Zaralegui Guzman, Mia Longoria, Kristen Ybarra, Kimberly Coronado; back row, Angelina Carrizales, Alexis Vasquez, Andrea Vela, Citlalith Mata, Kayla Martell, Cordylia Ochoa, Diana Cepeda, Jelina Ramos, and Faith Marroquin.

Five members of the squad – Leann Ramirez, Jovannah Ortiz, Mikayla Garcia, Cordylia Ochoa, and Mia Longoria – earned All-American Awards, affording them the opportunity to travel to Europe to participate in the London’s New Year’s Day Parade 2017.
