The San Benito CISD Migrant Education Program (MEP) will begin distributing basic school supplies to local migrant students on Monday, August 22 — the first day of school for local students. In order to receive school supplies, however, migrant students must meet eligibility guidelines for MEP services.
Beginning on August 22 and through Friday, August 26, supplies will be distributed Monday through Friday, between 8:30-11:30 A.M. and 12:30-4 P.M. at the school district’s Parental Involvement Program Office, located at 355 E. Stenger St.
The distribution will continue throughout the 2016-2017 academic year, based on the availability of supplies.
Among the MEP staff that will be distributing supplies are, from left, data specialist Minerva Galván, recruiter Richard Garcia, program coordinator Rick Hernandez, and recruiter Irma Rodriguez. They are shown with a sampling of the variety of supplies that will be available.
Local MEP initiatives are aimed at helping migrant students succeed in school and successfully transition to postsecondary education or employment.
