It’s extreme: Indoor park offers ‘Xtreme’ fun

SAN BENITO — They have been working overtime to bring their dream to life.

Owners of the Xtreme Jump Trampoline and Laser Tag Park started with an empty space and now have a kid-friendly and family-friendly indoor park.

Yesterday, the San Benito Chamber of Commerce and the Harlingen Area Chamber of Commerce welcomed the park to the community through a joint ribbon-cutting surrounded by eager trampoline jumpers.

The mission of the park is to provide a safe, fun, entertaining atmosphere while also promoting exercise and the physical and mental health necessary for a healthy lifestyle.

“When we started, that is what we wanted to do,” said San Benito Chamber Executive Director Sandee Alvarez.

This perfectly fits into the chamber niche market of a healthier San Benito.

When the chamber finally got back on its feet last year, the goal was to improve the health and wellness of the residents in San Benito.

This niche market, they called it, spurred on several health expos. The expos included free screenings for diabetes, high blood pressure, dental, vision and body mass index.

Guests also were able to get a free flu shot.

There were presentations from a nutritionist, activities for children, healthy snacks and giveaways.

“This is perfect for kids,” Alvarez said. “Instead of them being cooped up inside, they now have this place where they can have fun and get active.”
