Laguna Madre Art League has selected Voncille Zama to display her artwork at the Port Isabel Library throughout October. A member of the Art League for a number of years, she is also on the board of directors of the Laguna Madre Art Gallery where she shows and sells her work.

Fascinated by art since she was a child, Zama painted for her own recreation until she decided to study art at a local university. Since then she has won numerous awards in juried art shows and at the Brownsville Museum of Fine Art.

Zama translates our local scenery into beautiful watercolors. Beaches and dunes, sea life, coastal birds, flowers, and cacti are among her favorite subjects. And she has become well known for her watercolors of our local sea turtles.

Zama’s watercolors will be on display until the end of the month at the Port Isabel Library located at 213 Yturria St. For library hours call 956-943-2265. The display is free and is open to the public.
