HPD purchases mobile command center with seized money

The Harlingen Police Department has unveiled its new state-of-the-art emergency mobile command center.

HPD says the massive trailer was paid for with drug forfeiture money and will be used by the police department, fire department and EMS.

The command center will also be used by SWAT team members, whenever officers are involved in major crime scenes and will be utilized as a base of operations during a natural disaster, like a hurricane or massive flooding.

The public will also get an up close look at the command center during parades, National Night Out and other community events throughout Harlingen.
