Members of the San Benito competition cheer squad comprised of Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Freshmen cheerleaders recently competed at the National High School Cheerleading Championship held at Walt Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.

Though the squad did not advance to the finals, they can proudly say that they represented their hometown at the most prestigious cheerleading championship in the country.

The cheer squad that traveled to Florida is comprised of San Benito High School cheerleaders Andrea Vela, Angelina Carrizales, Jelina Ramos, Jovannah Ortiz, Kayla Martell, Kristen Ybarra, Leann Ramirez, Mia Longoria, and Zaralegui Guzman; and San Benito Veterans Memorial Academy cheerleaders Alysha Nuñez, Angelin Cruz, Brianna Rodriguez, Chloe Estrada, Janet Paz, Jasmin Marroquin, Mariah Garza, and Nayeli Rodriguez.

The cheer coaches are San Benito High School head coach Ashley Camacho-Garza and assistant Velma Garcia and San Benito Veterans Memorial Academy head coach Isabel De La Cruz and assistant Kay Marquez-Rojas.
