Vernon Middle School, Travis Elementary, and Rodriguez Elementary are advancing to the state championship after competing at the final two FIRST LEGO League RGV robotics competitions.
Students, staff, and parents shared their excitement during these events.
Sadorah Anderson, a coach from an all girls team from Rodriguez Elementary attested to the excitement of the students from a ‘Girl Power’ perspective.
“This is the first time that the all girls team and I are competing and they don’t seem to feel the pressure,” Anderson said. “We are excited.”
The competitions consist of performing robot activities and presentations that teach students STEM concepts along with skills such as teamwork and character development.
“We have brought robotics to scale at HCISD,” Superintendent Art Cavazos said. “This has gone from a moment to a movement.”
