Cameron County seeking justice of the peace applicants

SAN BENITO — Ever thought about being a justice of the peace?

Here’s your chance.

Cameron County commissioners are seeking applicants to replace Justice of the Peace Guadalupe Ayala, who recently died from colon cancer.

It will be up to the Commissioners Court to appoint someone to fill out Ayala’s term for Precinct 3, Place 1, which expires Dec. 31, 2018.

Applications will be accepted through 5 p.m., Wednesday, March 15.

Applications, resumes and supporting documents can be submitted to the Office of County Judge Eddie Trevino Jr., Suite 218, Cameron County Court House, Oscar C. Dancy Building, 1100 E. Monroe Street, Brownsville.

Ayala died Feb. 25 after a battle with cancer. His colleagues remembered him for his courage and dedication to public service.

He was a graduate of San Benito High School, a Marine Corps Veteran and former San Benito police officer.
