Harlingen holds annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast

About 400 people attended The Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast at the Harlingen Community Center yesterday.

The 7th Street Church of Christ Choir performed for the audience followed by the Presentation of Colors by the Harlingen Police Department Color Guard and the Pledge of Allegiance led by the American Heritage Girls. After the invocation by Reverend Nancy Springer, Mayor Chris Boswell presented the Family Crisis Center with a check. The Family Crisis Center is this year’s beneficiary.

Nevil Shed, motivational speaker and San Antonio Spurs summer basketball camp coach, was the guest speaker at the event. Shed was a member of the Texas Western team that won the NCAA Men’s Division One Basketball Nation Championship in 1966. He shared an inspirational story about his personal life and how his faith has helped him overcome difficult time in his life.

A final closing prayer was delivered by Pastor Bill Reagan.
