Man charged with shovel attack

HARLINGEN – Police have arrested a man they say attacked another man with a shovel.

Shortly after 8 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 1800 block of Knox Avenue in reference to a disturbance and assault.

When they arrived officers say the victim told them he had been in an argument with Jose Guadalupe Trevino Jr., 24, of Harlingen.

The victim said Trevino grabbed a shovel and struck him twice on the head. The man was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Trevino was arrested and charged with a second degree felony for aggravated assault. His bond was set at $60,000.
