A young woman accused in a hit and run accident during Spring Break on South Padre Island that claimed the life of a Los Fresnos teenager appeared in court today.

Daisy Joy Decker, 20, of Sugar Land, appeared before 107th state District Judge Benjamin Euresti Jr. trying to get her $180,000 bond reduced.

Authorities said Decker was driving her vehicle in the bike lane around 1 a.m. on March 17 when she hit five pedestrians with her car. One of the pedestrians, Selene Patino of Los Fresnos, later died.

Decker’s bond was originally set at $130,000 but the amount was raised to $180,000 after Patino died.

Her attorney, Ernesto Gamez, asked for a bond reduction in Decker’s case, but Euresti denied the request.

Decker is facing charges of manslaughter and multiple counts of accident involving injury. She remains in custody.
