As we celebrate another Independence Day, a reminder of how America was founded on Judeo/Christian principles, and how America’s government, society, and culture have drifted away from those principles.
In their efforts to worship God as they believed and not as they were told by the state-controlled Church of England, 102 extraordinarily courageous souls set sail for the New World aboard the Mayflower in 1620.
To get an idea of the hardships the Pilgrims endured in their quest for religious freedom, Google and read, Wikipedia-the Pilgrims; Plymouth Colony; the Mayflower; William Bradford.
Just over a century and a half later, another group of extremely courageous individuals would risk their fortunes, as well as their lives, as they set about to announce and declare the independence of the Original 13 Colonies from the English empire.
Is it even remotely possible that America’s Founding Fathers ever intended for Christianity to be separated from government, the public square, or public schools?
I think not. After reading the following Founders’ quotes, only a person that believes any lie would believe that.
John Adams, 2nd POTUS: “(The Fourth of July) ought to be commemorated as a day of deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty.”
“The Declaration of Independence laid the cornerstone upon the precepts of Christianity.”
“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
You know, it might be a good idea to give a “religious test and a morality test” to anyone who attempts to interpret the U.S. Constitution.
Samuel Adams, signer of Declaration of Independence: “The rights of the colonists as Christians may be best understood by reading and carefully studying the institutes of the Great Law Giver and Head of the Christian Church, which are to be found clearly written and promulgated in the New Testament.”
Thomas Jefferson, author of the Declaration of Independence and 3rd POTUS: “God who gave us liberty gave us life. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God?”
George Washington, Leader of the Continental Army and 1st POTUS: “It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor.”
James Madison: “Cursed be all that learning that is contrary to the cross of Christ.”
Daniel Webster: “Education is useless without the Bible.”
Benjamin Rush, signer of the Declaration of Independence: “Let the children be carefully instructed in the principles and obligations of the Christian religion. This is the most essential part of education.”
U.S. Congress 1782: “The Congress of the United States recommends and approves the Holy Bible for use in all schools.”
So why did almost 200 years go by before a 1962 liberal Supreme Court banned prayer in all public schools with its interpretation of the Constitution’s “Establishment Clause?”
Because the mass brainwashing of the American public began with the advent of television in the late 1940s. That’s why!
From Wikipedia-History of television: “ … During the 1950s, television was the primary medium for influencing public opinion.”
In other words, television became the primary medium for brainwashing the American public.
Suppressing and then abolishing all forms of religion, especially Christianity, has long been, is, and will continue to be, one of the goals of liberals/socialists in America.
Seems to me that the Founders wording of the “Establishment Clause”, was to keep any Christian denomination from being “established” as America’s “state” Church, such as the Church of England and the Russian Orthodox Church in those nations.
I believe America’s Founders never intended or ever imagined that Christianity would be “separated” from our government, the public square, or our public schools.
The Founders knew very well that, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord …” Psalm 33:12.
May God Bless America “the land of the free and the home of the brave.”
Happy Birthday America!
