SAN BENITO — A San Benito man died after he was struck by a tractor-trailer on an intestate in Kentucky.
Ruben Omar Jimenez, 28, was found in the middle of I-75 at mile marker 70, authorities said.
The crash occurred about 4:30 a.m. Monday in Rockcastle County.
Jimenez was stuck by a commercial tractor-trailer, Kentucky State Police Officer Steven Douglas said.
“Alcohol was a suspected factor on the victim’s part,” Douglas said investigators reported. “Not on the driver’s part.”
Douglas said an autopsy was ordered for Jimenez.
The investigative officer reported to Douglas it was not clear if Jimenez was walking along highway or if he was attempting to cross the interstate.
“The victim was in the middle of the roadway. It’s kind of strange for a man to be in the middle of the interstate at the 70 mile marker,” Douglas said.
No further information was available as the investigation is still on going.
