During what could have been just another day of learning for students at Incarnate Word Academy, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection helicopter landed in the middle of the school’s soccer field.

As part of Red Ribbon Week, an anti-drug program, IWA students watched the helicopter land on school property, and then CBP and Border Patrol officers talked to the students about having a career in government or law enforcement — and the importance of not using drugs.

CBP Supervisory Air Interdiction Agent Ryan Smith said the agency participates in Red Ribbon Week every year throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
