RIO HONDO — A statewide Amber Alert that was issued for the disappearance of Angel Jesus Jimenez late Wednesday has been called off.
As of 10 a.m. today Jimenez was known to be in the custody of his mother.
News reports stated they were last seen in Rio Hondo.
According to a district report Jimenez, 10, a 5th grader at Rio Hondo Intermediate was released during car pick up to an unknown individual.
The district’s statement confirmed the mother had picked up Jimenez after school Wednesday.
Authorities issued the Amber alert hours after the incident and believed Jimenez may have been in “grave or immediate danger.”
According to the statement, the district learned that this surrounds a domestic dispute and the student remains with his mother.
The statement signed by Superintendent Ismael Garcia said “the safety and security of all students at Rio Hondo ISD remains a priority to us, and we will continue to work with the family during this difficult time.”
The district did not have any further information about the case.
