The Gladys Porter Zoo had another successful year of children dressed in colorful costumes enjoying friendly tricks and delicious treats at its 28th annual Boo at the Zoo.

The Gladys Porter Zoo had another successful year of children dressed in colorful costumes enjoying friendly tricks and delicious treats at its 28th annual Boo at the Zoo.

Since September, Gladys Porter Zoo staff has been planning the yearly event. There were about 500 volunteers from the community handing out candy at more than 40 stations, scaring people at the haunted house and doing other tasks to make an enjoyable and safe night for the children.

“It just gives families a safe alternative for trick-or-treating here in zoo grounds as opposed to being out in a neighborhood that you’re unfamiliar with,” Zoo Public Relations Coordinator Charlie Abrego said.
