SPI nature walk open for winter bird watching

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND — Feed the pigeons from the palm of your hand.

And scope out some of the most exotic shore birds and more while walking the South Padre Island Birding and Nature Center’s boardwalk.

“Winter is a great time for birding on the Island as many northern birds mi-grate down and spend the winter with our resident birds,” said Javier Gonzalez, Birding and Nature Center naturalist.

“Bird diversity doubles along the boardwalk.”

People from around the world make it a priority to take a bird watching guided tour on the Island.

The Birding and Nature Center is the Rio Grande Valley’s premier destination for bird watching.

“South Padre Island is the perfect place to observe the birds, butterflies and natural wildlife in coastal South Texas,” Gonzalez said. “Visit us and walk the bay front boardwalks, take a birding tour and explore the nature center.”
