On Saturday, Feb. 3, La Posada Providencia will host a brunch and auction at the La Sierra Event Center located at 3742 N Expressway 77, in Harlingen.
Tickets are $40 per person in advance / $45 per person at the door. For more information or to make a reservation, contact Magda Bolland at 956-399-3826 or email@example.com.
La Posada Providencia is an emergency shelter for immigrants, asylum seekers and asylees recently processed by U.S. immigration authorities.
Income from the event will assist the hundreds of clients served by La Posada in the coming year.
La Posada provides clients with safe, clean shelter, food, local transportation, and supportive services, including English as a Second Language (ESL) lessons, to help them take the necessary steps to achieving self-sufficiency and responsible integration into U.S. culture.
Since 1989, the shelter has helped more than 9,000 people from 83 countries around the world.
These people have suffered displacement from their native lands due to war, famine, natural disaster, poverty, or oppressive governments.
Sponsored by the Sisters of Divine Providence, La Posada Providencia is a shelter for people in crisis from around the world.
Clients have emigrated from some of the poorest countries in Central and South America, Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe; they are referred to the shelter by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, attorneys and churches.
They are in the process of applying for asylum or some other form of legal residency in this country.
