After a rough four-game losing stretch, the Harlingen South Hawks finally got back on track last week with a solid win over San Benito. The Hawks will now look to keep momentum alive as they take on a resurgent Weslaco High team tonight on the road.
Both squads enter the contest at 5-3 in District 32-6A. In their meeting earlier this season, the Hawks walked away with a 64-53 win. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.
STOP THE BLEEDING:
The Lady Hawks are in the middle of a nasty four-game losing skid that, most recently, continued last Friday with an embarrassing 44-17 loss to San Benito. In the loss, the Lady Hawks’ offense was completely shut out in the third quarter. Unfortunately, if the Lady Hawks (4-7) hope to pull out of this nosedive they’ll have to find a way to beat 32-6A-leading Weslaco High (9-1) on the road tonight. Tip off is set for 6 p.m. In their last meeting, the Lady Panthers beat up on the Lady Hawks 54-38.
Since dropping back-to-back games to Harlingen and Los Fresnos, the San Benito Lady Greyhounds have rebounded with two wins in a row. They will now look to make it three straight as they host Brownsville Hanna at 6 tonight before heading to Weslaco on Friday where they’ll try to stop the powerful Lady Panthers again. In their first meeting of the league season on Jan. 9, the Lady Hounds shocked Weslaco with a 49-46 victory.
BRING ON THE FALCONS:
Tonight the Harlingen Cardinals will look to do what no other District 32-6A team has been able to do so far this season: Beat the Los Fresnos Falcons. The Cards, who enter today’s contest at 6-3, host the 9-0 Falcons. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m. On Friday, the Cards snapped a two-game losing skid with a 78-56 win over Weslaco East. In their last meeting on Jan. 5, the Falcons handily beat the Cards 91-40.
