Selena fans wait in line for coveted H-E-B bags

As the sound of Selena music played inside the H-E-B on Central Boulevard in Brownsville, dozens of her fans waited in line for a chance to buy the newest souvenier of the Tejano music superstar.

Store employees handed out donuts and water as fans passed the time waiting until 9 a.m. when the recyclable bags officially went on sale.

H-E-B and The Selena Foundation partnered to create the bags and worked with the slain singer’s sister Suzette Quintainilla to design the pink and black “Queen of Cumbia” bags.

Fans who couldn’t buy the bags in person tried to get them online but H-E-B’s website crashed and was down for several hours.

And just like the stores once the website was back up and running it sold out immediately.
