Band directors, football coaches, media arts teachers and engineering instructors took a two-day training seminar this week in the use of drones. The instructors began using the drones last year, and they’re now preparing to get certified by the FAA.
“For the marching band, it’s very advantageous to have a different overhead view of the marching drills,” said Shane Shinsato, band director at Harlingen High School South.
Jason Arms, instructor at FIRST RGV, gave the seminar at the Harlingen School for Health Professions.
“Safety is a big priority,” said Jason Arms, instructor at FIRST RGV. “It’s about being responsible and knowing the rules and regulations and some of the science of flight,” he said.
