The storm shelter in Los Fresnos is opened to anyone needed shelter from flooding that has occurred this morning in the Rio Grande Valley.

Tom Hushen, emergency management coordinator for Cameron County, said the county worked with the American Red Cross, City of Los Fresnos and the Los Fresnos Consolidated Independent School District, to open the shelter today.

The shelter dome is located behind Los Fresnos United School in FM 803.

Hushen said the shelter will be opened as long as needed and that those heading out to the shelter should take the necessary items with them to the shelter.

Hushen added additional shelters will be opened in the county if needed.
