The Brownsville Police Department arrested a 65-year-old man Wednesday night for shooting at some possums in his backyard.

Camilo Salinas was arrested without incident for discharging a firearm inside city limits.

Brownsville Police Spokesman J.J. Treviño said officers responded at 10 p.m. Wednesday to a shots heard call on the 1400 block of Northridge Dr.

“Officers made contact with complainant were the complainant advised hearing shots next door,” he said.

After talking to Salinas, they confirmed the complaint, arrested the man and recovered a .380 caliber handgun.

“No possums found,” Treviño said.
