Two Raymondville women sought after botched robbery

HARLINGEN — Harlingen police are on the lookout for two women who allegedly took merchandise from Target during the weekend.

HARLINGEN — Police are on the lookout for two women who allegedly took merchandise from Target over the weekend.

Arrest warrants for Norma Jean Garcia, 39, and Jacquie Lynn Valdez, 22, both of Raymondville have been issued on charges of robbery, a second-degree felony.

According to a police report, on Sunday Aug. 5, at approximately 4:41 p.m., Harlingen police arrived at the Target department store in reference to a robbery.

As officers arrived they made contact with two loss prevention officers who reported that two female subjects concealed more than $100 of clothing in their purses and began to exit the store without paying.

In an attempt to stop the females from leaving the store, a physical altercation began.

One female ran off and entered into a browncolored Chevrolet Malibu with Texas license plates JTZ-1182 that parked directly in front of the store.

According to the release, a male driver exited the vehicle and ran towards the altercation and threatened both officers with physical harm if the other female was not let go.

The female was let go and she entered the vehicle. The vehicle then fled the area. One officer received a minor injury.

Surveillance footage of the incident helped in identifying the two female subjects.
