HARLINGEN — Anyone with health insurance coverage in-network with the Valley Baptist Health System will have more options for 24 hour emergency care.
Starting Nov. 8, the Neighbors Emergency Center located at 1725 N. Ed Carey Dr. will become an off-campus Valley Baptist Emergency Center, along with the Neighbors Emergency Center located in Brownsville at 2073 E. Ruben Torres Sr. Blvd.
Valley Baptist announced this week its acquisition of the two Neighbors Emergency Centers.
The sign above the Harlingen facility is already wrapped with white paper in preparation for the name change.
“We are excited to continue to expand access points for our community so our patients and families can get the care they need closer to home,” said Manny Vela, CEO for Valley Baptist Health System, in a press release.
The emergency centers are staffed by specially trained ER nurses and doctors and are equipped to provide services such as diagnostic imaging and lab work. With seven private treatment rooms, including one for children, the centers can treat serious medical conditions – from broken bones to lacerations or concussions.
All commercial and governmental health plans currently in-network with the Valley Baptist Health System will be accepted at the new centers.
“We look forward to growing with our community and continuing to provide the highest quality of care,” said Leslie Bingham, CEO for Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville, in a press release.
Neighbors Emergency Center in Harlingen opened its doors on January 2016, with the Brownsville location opening in March of that same year.
