HARLINGEN — Police arrested a local man for allegedly committing aggravated robbery at two separate Stripes stores in town.
The crimes were committed one hour apart from each other, according to police reports.
The crimes were reported to police at 2:50 a.m. and 3 a.m. on Wednesday.
Police say Steven Mikael Espinosa, 26, allegedly entered a Stripes located at North Business 77 demanding cash and cigarettes.
Police said Espinosa entered the store with a ski mask and approached the front counter holding a screwdriver.
Espinosa also allegedly entered another Stripes and committed theft of beer.
Espinosa was later arrested on the 300 block of S. 12th Street by police detectives.
Police said video surveillance footage from each of the stores revealed the same man committed the offenses.
Espinosa was given a bond of $150,569.
No further information was available as police continue to investigate.
