Arrests made following school threat

HARLINGEN — A woman and a juvenile female have been arrested and charged with making a terroristic threat to staff members at Gutierrez Middle School yesterday morning.

According to Harlingen police, at about 8 a.m. Friday, officers responded to Gutierrez in reference to a disturbance. At that time, they learned three adults and one juvenile had caused an issue over a school fight earlier that morning.

Apparently, during the disturbance, one of the adults and a juvenile, the ones who were later arrested, threatened staff members by stating they were going to come back with a gun.

Based on that threat, Harlingen CISD was placed on a temporary lockdown as a precaution. However, at no time were any students or others in direct danger.

Working with HCISD, police were able to identify the two who made the threats and located them at their residence.

Names of those arrested or involved have not yet been made public.
