Looking for people 100 years and older

The Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council Area Agency on Aging and the Social Security Administration will be hosting its 22nd Annual Centenarian Recognition Celebration honoring Valley Centenarians.

This recognition is to honor Centenarians from the Lower Rio Grande Valley (Cameron, Hidalgo, Star and Willacy Counties) who are 100 years of age or older or, will be 100 this year.

The Recognition Celebration consists of Special Guest Speakers, Award Presentations, a catered meal, birthday cake, entertainment and door prizes.

The Social Security Administration identifies Centenarians that receive Social Security or SSI Benefits.

However, more help is needed in identifying Centenarians who do not receive any benefits or other benefits such as Teacher’s Retirement, Veterans’ Benefits, etc.

If you or someone you know was born in 1919 or prior, please contact Elida Carranza, Mary Villarreal or Mary Rojas at (956)682-3481 for a special invitation to this celebration.

The invitation is for the Centenarian and three guests. Centenarians need not be legal residents.

The only requirement is be 100 years of age this year or older. The date for the celebration will be Thursday, May 2, 2019.
