San Benito High School and Veterans Memorial Academy migrant students recently visited St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, to learn about the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) available for migrant students.
CAMP has assisted more than 2,800 students since 1972, with 35 new CAMP students selected each year to bring their passions, talents, and desires to make a difference to “The Hilltop” (St. Edwards). Students accepted to CAMP receive financial, academic and moral support in their first year in order to build a good foundation leading to a baccalaureate degree.
While in Austin, San Benito migrant students also toured The University of Texas and the Texas State Capitol. They also participated in a “Who done it?” escape adventure at the Mystery Room at the Domain in Austin.
