A 14 year-old boy was killed Tuesday night in an ATV accident south of La Feria on the Military Highway.
The teen was identified as Nestor Eduardo Vazquez and taken to Valley Baptist Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio said Vasquez was a passenger, along two other teens, when the ATV crashed into an irrigation canal on the highway near Cobarrubias Road. The road is also known as Parker Road.
The driver, Victor Fuentes, 17, and another passenger, Maribella Villarreal, 15, were severely injured in the crash. Lucio said the vehicle was going so fast, that when the ATV struck the ditch all of the victims were thrown nearly 100 feet away from the sports vehicle.
Lucio said so far no charges have been filed against the driver.
