PORT ISABEL — From creating planets, aliens and even rockets, several kids will be able to partake in an art program this summer that’s out of this world.
The Port Isabel Public Library has opened registration for its space-themed Summer Art program, which will be held in July for children ages 6 to 14.
“Programs such as these are really good for children because it’ll give them something to do during the summer that also helps them make new friends,” said Port Isabel Public Library Youth Services Coordinator Wendy Martinez.
Participants will be able to select from four different art sessions, which will be limited to 24 children per group.
Session one will be held July 8 through July 12 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Session two will run the same days, but from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
Session three will be held July 15 through July 19 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
The last session will run during the same days as the third session from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
According to Martinez, session one is almost full, but the remaining sessions have plenty of space.
“When children visit the library, they learn to love to read,” Martinez said. “And though the art program, they enjoy the beauty in art while expressing their creativity and imagination.”
Registration for the Summer Art program will close July 5.
