A San Benito woman in her 70s has died from COVID-19 related causes, Cameron County Public Health said in a statement Friday.
This raises the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in Cameron County to 1,092.
Also Friday, the health department said it had received confirmation on an additional 37 coronavirus cases here, raising the total number of cases to 24,598.
New cases were reported in Brownsville, Harlingen, Los Fresnos, Primera and San Benito.
The new cases include three people ages 10 to 19, six people in their 20s, five people in their 30s, two people in their 40s, eight people in their 50s, seven people in their 60s, three people in their 70s, one person in her 80s and two people in their 90s, the health department said.
There have also been an additional 80 individuals who have recovered, raising the total number of recovered individuals to 22,349.
As part of the COVID-19 action response plan, Cameron County Public Health is conducting epidemiological investigations, contact tracing as needed and continues to monitor the situation.
