The San Benito High School Student Council will sponsor the 2018 Homecoming Parade, which will get underway beginning at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25.

The parade will travel northbound on Sam Houston Boulevard, beginning at the intersection of South Sam Houston Boulevard and Powers Street.

The “Lighting of the SB” letters and a community pep rally will take place at 6:30 PM (after the parade) at Greyhound Stadium, located at 600 N. Austin Street.

The Homecoming parade entry form – including a list of the parade rules and restrictions – can be found on the school district’s website (www.sbcisd.net/apps/news/article/ 905719). All forms are due on or before Monday, Oct. 22.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Nate Carman and his secretary, Peggy Rosa, recently recognized the efforts of campus and department secretaries as essential in keeping our district running smoothly.

During the professional development workshop for secretaries, they presented purple drawstring sportpacks to each of the attendees.

During the 4-day workshop, attendees reviewed updates to the secretary’s handbook, payroll procedures, finance policies and procedures, and purchasing and fixed assets procedures.

On the final day of training, district vendors were on hand to present attendees with small tokens of appreciation such as samples of a variety of office supplies.
