LA PALOMA BRINGS BOOKS TO LIFE

La Paloma Elementary recently hosted a unique Enchanted Forrest Book Fair. Students were invited to dress as their favorite book characters on “Whimsical Wednesday” and as campers, forest animals, or tour guides on “Travel Through the Forest Thursday.” The week long celebration was a creative way of promoting literacy and highlighting the students’ love for reading.

DR. CASH HOSTS COLLEGE AND CAREER WEEK

Dr. C.M. Cash Elementary focuses their efforts on college and career readiness. The campus recently hosted a College and Career Week that included activities such as Open House, future career dress up for students, and guest speakers that spoke to scholars about their careers.

SAN BENITO BELLES SHOW THEIR SCHOOL SPIRIT

The award-winning San Benito High School Belles – the “Pride of San Benito” – demonstrated their unrelenting Greyhound spirit in preparation for the 2018 Battle of the Arroyo. The Belles, under the direction of Isabel De La Cruz and assistant Liz Corona-Perez, proudly showed their school spirit by wearing their comfy pajamas during the school’s pajama day. This year’s spirit week activities included pajama day, pink out day in support of breast cancer awareness, iconic duo (perfect pair) day, and purple and gold day.

HOMECOMING PARADE, LIGHTING OF THE SB

The 2018 homecoming parade will begin at 5:15 PM on Thursday, October 25. Beginning at the intersection of South Sam Houston Boulevard and Powers Street, the parade will travel northbound on Sam Houston Boulevard. The “Lighting of the SB” letters and a community pep rally will take place at 6:30 PM (after the parade) at Greyhound Stadium, located at 600 N. Austin Street.

WELLNESS WALK

San Benito CISD will host its first annual Wellness Awareness Walk on Saturday, November 3, from 8:30 to 11:30 AM at Bobby Morrow Stadium. The event is FREE and open to all community members ready to build a healthier community. Sponsors are invited to partner with the district to help raise scholarship monies for San Benito High School seniors entering the medical field.

BELLES TO HOST DANCE CLINIC

The San Benito High School Belles will be hosting their annual dance clinic on Saturday, November 10. The deadline for registration and a guarantee of an event T-shirt will be Friday, November 2. For more information contact Belle sponsor, Isabel A. De La Cruz at (956) 276-6000.

CTE SHOWCASE

The Career Technical Education Department will hold a Showcase Experience on Thursday, October 18, at the San Benito High School cafeteria from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Parents and community members are invited to witness what students are doing and experience hands on events led by students and teachers. For more information, please call (956) 361-6574.
